Overview
Plaquemine is home to several public schools operated through the Iberville Parish School Board, St. John Interparochial School, and Iberville Charter Academy. These schools offer some of the finest school facilities and equipment in the state and excellent educational options.
Universities
Higher educational opportunities are as close as the Louisiana State University (LSU) or Southern University (SU) in Baton Rouge. LSU is the state's largest university and flagship institution, with an enrollment of some 30,000 students. The University of Louisiana at Lafayette (ULL) is only one hour drive away.
Technical
A variety of specialty training programs are located within 30 miles of Plaquemine, including Baton Rouge Community College, Our Lady of the Lake College (medical and nursing) and others.
Plaquemine is also home to the Baton Rouge Community College Westside campus, which provides a variety of occupational training programs, including:

The Iberville Parish Library System also plays a vital role within the educational system. The main library is located in Plaquemine with a total of seven small libraries located within the Parish. The library system offers programs year-round, along with assisting students and lifelong learners in career choices and general knowledge. The library is an active supporter of the Iberville Museum, along with other cultural, community and social organizations.

Saint John School offers pre-kindergarten through 12th grade education with a foundation based in the Catholic faith. It is strongly supported by Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church community.
